Dental Bridges

Dental Bridges Gosforth

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth by attaching a false tooth to adjacent natural teeth. There are two main types:

  1. Traditional Bridges: These use crowns placed on the neighboring teeth to support the false tooth.

  2. Maryland Bridges: These are attached to the back of the adjacent teeth, usually requiring little to no preparation. This approach is more conservative, causing minimal alteration to the existing teeth.

Process of getting dental bridge

The process of getting a dental bridge typically involves two appointments. During the first visit, the dentist prepares the teeth based on the type of bridge being used. An impression or digital scan of your teeth may be taken and sent to a lab to create the bridge. A temporary bridge will be provided to wear until the next appointment, which is usually scheduled about two weeks later. At the second visit, the temporary bridge is removed, and the final fixed bridge is placed.
